Give clans the tool to run and have a simple vote for key positions. Have a system generated free time vote e.g. every 6 months or a majority of clan paid in jewels special election.

Free voting not working for you? Provide a mutiny battle option similar to the current rally feature, but clan v clan players. Organize your clan mates to rally against your CCO. Pick a side. Go to battle. CCO or head of rally side gets the throne.

    Just clarifying.
You're saying you should battle within the clan with clanmate vs clanmate for roles in the clan?

Yep. Internal clan v clan battle. Like an animal family battling for the Alpha spot. One off battle. Pick a side - challenge the CCO or support them.

Just form a new clan, this mechanic that you desire already exists.

If you want to have a mutiny, get the majority of clan mates to join you in a new clan and screw your old clan owner over.

Fun idea! And helpful if your Coan Leader goes MIA for too long.

You get to keep your clan chest level and you don't lose a clan tay you're proud to have helped build.

One issue I could see with this is that the original owner is the one who made the clan and spent the gems to buy the clan, so there may be some issues with who actually owns the clan and they'd be entitled to keeping it since they made it and the clan name. Especially if they came back and saw they weren't the owner and hadn't actually handed over ownership to the clan.

Yeah but that requires people to leave and join, has chest level implications and people moving from an established hive. This way you could stay and vote somone off your island or push them out if they don’t play nicely!

If I created a Clan, it should be my right to decide if I want to pass on ownership or not. If someone else wants to take the ownership from me, they could ask and I can give it up or they can go and form a different clan. It wouldn't be right to have someone else who didn't spend the gems or create the clan name and work as the leader to recruit to just become a clan leader because people decided they didn't like the current one. The established clan hive and chest level all came under that current leader's ownership. If someone else wants to be a leader, they can create a clan and try to poach the members from the original owner's clan. Hey, if they're that bad, the members will leave and join the new owner's clan...if not, then it's just the people who left.
