Idols can be confusing when you are first introduced to them. This guide is meant to alleviate some of that confusion and serve as a reference for players. After reading this guide you should have enough information to make a better/ more informed decision about which Idols to craft and upgrade.

Keep in mind the data in this thread is gathered by players and might have inaccuracies or be out of date by the time you are reading it (last updated on November 3rd, 2018). If you have data that you think should be included please leave a comment on this thread or message me on discord @Tiashueothin#8865 or in game @ Tiashueothin (note that is different from my forum name).

This guide would not be possible without the help of these wonderful people, so share your gratitute with them!

    Sincerely,

-Cedric Dislikes Order [OCD], Realm 10
This guide is still a work in progress... additional hyperlinks will be added tomorrow

    History/ General Information
Idols were first introduced into the game on October 16th, 2018. They are designed to provide a temporary bonus to significantly boost the power of a player. This feature is accessible to EVERYONE, where players can pick their spots to activate them and do “massive” damage.

This feature was first introduced into the public sphere in June of 2017 under the name “Spells”. Spells were later referred to as artifacts until they publicly released under the themed name “Idols”. It is rumored that ATA keeps a penny jar for each time an employee refers to this feature using the name spells or artifacts.

Throughout the last year and a half ATA has had numerous discussions on discord where they have provided insight into Idols. In addition to everything we currently know they also hinted at possible features that will make idols more dynamic and strategic. However, at this time we have chosen not to shed light on what these features will/ might be as they are speculative and will only add to confusion. The only exception to this is a fun rumor mill of additional idol types included at the bottom of this thread.

Recently, ATA has publicly said that idols will have a multi-stage release,

We are currently still in phase one, so you can realistically expect more PvE Idols to be released soon.

    Getting Started

In order to start crafting, upgrading, and activating your first idol you’ll need to build the Idolith. To build the Idolith you need to have 100 Idolith Activators and have a Town Hall level of at least 9. In order to obtain these Idolith Activators you need to participate in raids. Everyone should get these 100 Idolith Activators in their first reward chest after completing any raid. Go with the easiest raid possibly if you are a low TH (i.e. a one star raid)

When you have the prerequisites you can rebuild the Idolith. The destroyed Idolith is located at the bottom of your city, directly above your city wall.

    Idol Drawer

After you rebuild your Idolith a new icon will appear on the bottom right of your screen that will open the idol drawer,

This drawer functions as a quick snapshot of the current state of your idols. The bottom most idol in this draw indicates an idol you can either craft or upgrade. At the top of the drawer you can tell which idols are currently equipped (a better UI for this window we are told is in the works)

    Crafting your first Idol

Before an idol can be equipped/ activated it first needs to be crafted into existence. Crafting requires idol specific fragments and raid glyphs. There is currently a 100% chance of an idols craft success rate. Click the 'view all' button on the idol drawer to go to the idol menu

Under the blue ‘Unequipped’ banner you will see all the current idols in the game. Upon the completition of your first raid you will have enough materials to craft a “Grassy Minion Masher Idol”. The idols with a gold “CRAFT” label on it are the idols you have the materials to craft. By clicking on one of these idols you will be taken to a new menu from which you can actually craft the it.

    Viewing an Idols Stats
When you click on an idol you are taken to its profile. The first screen you see is the info screen that contains the activation and cooldown durations for that specific idol. By upgrading your Idolith building you can decrease the cooldown duration.

By clicking on the abilities tab you will be taken to a screen that highlights the active and passive abilities of that idol.

Active Abilities: An idol needs to be activated with mana in order for the active abilities to take effect. These abilities have a duration of one hour and a cool down period that varies based on the idol and Idolith building level.

Passive Abilities: An idol needs to be equipped in order for the passive abilities to take effect.

Located at the bottom of the abilities tab you will have the option to upgrade the class or level of an idol as well as see the powers at different levels/class. To view powers at different levels/classes click on one of the two buttons below,

(NOTE: If there is a red exclamation mark you have the requirements to upgrade it)

Depending on which one you clicked, you will either be taken to the info screen for the class or the level of the idol.

By clicking on levels or classes you will be able to see the respective power bonuses at each level or class.

IMPORTANT: an idol gets new abilities unlocked at different class levels. By upgrading an idols level you will increase ALL of the unlocked idol abilities

The level page (below) shows the strength of all the powers you have unlocked, at each of the idol ten levels.

    Upgrading an Idol

An Idol can either have its class or level upgraded. There is a maximum of five classes and ten levels. Certain levels require your idol to be at a certain level class.

When you click on an idol you will be taken to its profile, from here you can click abilities:

And then either levels or classes:

On the next screen you will be able to see the requirements to upgrade it. If there is a red exclamation mark next to class or level you have all the needed requirements. To view more information about the requirements to upgrade a specific idol please view the individual idols [here, insert link]

    Equipping an Idol

Once you have an Idol crafted, you can equip it! Equipped idols will appear under the green “equipped” banner.

Empty Black Box: you have an open slot that you can equip an idol to
Locked Black Box: you have a locked slot that you can not equip an idol to (upgrade Idolith to level ten to unlock your second equip slot)

To equip an idol, click on the idol you wish to equip and you will be taken to a new menu where you will have the option to equip it.

When the idol is equipped it will appear under the green “equipped” banner and it will have the letter ‘E’ on the top left of its profile,

Once the idol is equipped the passive ability will take effect (if it has any).

Passive Abilities: An idol needs to be equipped in order for the passive abilities to take effect.

In order to make use of the active abilities you need to activate the idol.

    Activating an Idol

Only equipped idols can be activated. Click on one of your equipped idols, at the bottom of that idols profile there will be an option to activate the idol.

An idol consumes mana when it is activated, ensure that you have enough mana to activate the idol [see mana]. You can view the mana required to activate directly above the Info and Abilities tabs.

The amount of mana needed to activate a particular idol can be decreased by upgrading the Idolith building.

Once activated you will be making use of the idols active abilities. Remember, there is a limited duration for an idols active power so you need to make use of it before it ends.

Active Abilities: An idol needs to be activated with mana in order for the active abilities to take effect. These abilities have a duration of one hour and a cool down period that varies based on Idolith building level.

    Mana

Mana is the essence of ancient beings, it is also needed to activate idols. It is important to note that mana is an expendable resource and will disappear from your inventory when it is used to activate an idol. Mana can be obtained in token form from raids, or dropped in liquid form from feats (other ways to obtain mana will potentially be released in the future)

There are currently four types of mana, green = grasslands, brown = badlands, purple = swamplands, and gray = boss mana,

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Currently, the raid minion and raid titan idols are biome locked, this means they require the corresponding biome mana type to activate. The raid boss idol (Mermolga’s Misfortune) is biome neutral and requires the idol specific gray mana to activate. However, ATA could possibly introduce additional generic idols into the game possibly requiring red, blue, yellow, or another color mana to activate.

IMPORTANT: When using tokens it is possible to exceed your mana carry capacity. However, you will not be able to receive liquid drops of mana if you are over your capacity.

IMPORTANT: Over capped mana is NOT lootable.

    Liquid Mana

You can view your current stash of liquid mana at the top of the idol menu. Currently the only way to obtain liquid mana is through feats (upgrading your Idolith)

By clicking on one of the above mana types you will have the option to use your basic, common, uncommon, rare, or epic mana tokens.

    Token Mana
Mana comes in multiple different token quantities, ranging from basic to epic. These tokens can only be obtained from raid prize chests and from the chest of ancients chests (won from certain seasonal events)

    [IMG]Basic, Quantity of 10

    [IMG]Common, Quantity of 25

    [IMG]Uncommon, Quantity of 50

    [IMG]Rare, Quantity of 100

    Idol Specific Materials
These are also called fragments. Each idol has its own unique fragment. Some of these fragments can be seen below.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

These fragments are needed for crafting and upgrading the level of an idol.

    Other Information/ Helpful Tips

Classes versus Levels: an idol gets new abilities unlocked when you upgrade the class. By upgrading an idols level you will increase ALL of the abilities you have unlocked at that class

    Idols used in a Rally
: idols activated by the rally leader will apply to the entire rally, including the troops that other players send

Feats: feats for building the idol past level one will be introduced soon. When they are introduced, people will retroactively be comped.

Idolith Might: the might per level of the Idolith is the same as the dragon spire. It is expected that there will eventually be 25 levels of the Idolith.

Raid Node HP Loss Bonus: this class five ability increases the maximum damage you can do on a raid monster by the given % number. For example, the normal damage cap on Mermolga is 2.5%, with a class 5 and level 10 Mermolga Mistfortune idol activated you will have a Mermolga Max HP loss Bonus of 0.2%. This means the max damage you can inflict on Mermolga is now increased to 2.7%.
