Food is used for troops. Ore is used for buildings and once buildings are pretty much well capped out it's a buffer against losing gold or food.
There goes any reason I might have had to spend my 1mil gems. You literally killed our ability to get gems, greatly decreased their value, killed...

I collect only lvl 9 gathers right now. Maybe the odd lvl 8 if I find one almost dead. I only hit lvl 8-9 monster camps. Everything else...
