You could already request clan mates in clan chat to send you resources if they are willing to do so.

That is something you have to talk to support about requesting. In the game go to "Help" in the Extras tab and submit a New Ticket.
Until ATA comes up with an official way to figure out which realm your in, this will provide a temporary way of knowing. Please comment or PM me...

A shield only protects your city, it does not provide any protection from your gatherings being attacked though.
The only way to really be forcibly teleported somewhere is if ATA has some major map change or if a realm merge happens.
