Yes it is a business, and how much of their revenue is gonna dry up when players realize they can't compete with the players that perpetually have 300k to 500k gems at all times? If I can at least tie for first I have an incentive to keep spending money, cause on my realm we for the most part tie on events and a larger chunk of the player base gets to grow. How long will most players keep playing when you look at a 50 day build and might get a few hours in speed ups per day? Waiting around is boring when you're trying to advance. Months ago they said ties weren't intended but they also said they didn't intend to do anything about it. If there are 30-50 way ties they should probably limit it, maybe 10 people per rank starting from the first to reach that tie mark. Anyone that hits that tie mark after the 10 person just gets marked as 2nd and another 10 go to second, etc. That way once the top ten fill out anyone that wants to get 1st has to jump and risk the realms wrath or just still with 2nd place for an event. Another thing they could always do is give us an alternate way to earn speed ups. Reach a certain res collection mark throughout a 24hr mark as opposed to just the events, get a speed up. Earn xx number of points over what you need for your dragon quest you get xx speed ups, etc.
